School Rules

School is for learning and students come to school to learn. Everything done at school should be to enhance learning. With this in mind, we have four basic rules:

     1. A student may not do anything that could hurt someone else.

     2. A student may not do anything that could hurt himself.

     3. A student may not do anything that could destroy someone else's property.

     4. A student may not do anything that could destroy his own or public property.

According to school Board Rules, students may be suspended for repeated disruption or behavior, with disrupts the orderly educational process.

According to the Code of Student Conduct, suspension and expulsion by the School Board upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools may result when the pupil has:

     1. Possessed, used, or transmitted a substance capable of modifying mood or behavior.

     2. Possessed, used, or transmitted a weapon including, but not limited to a gun, knife,

razor, explosive, ice pick, or club.

     3. Used any article as a weapon or in a manner reasonably calculated to threaten any person.

     4. Committed a serious breach of conduct  including, but not limited to assault on school

personnel or on another pupil, a lewd or lascivious act, arson, vandalism, or any other act,

which disrupts or tends to disrupt the orderly conduct of the school activity.

     5. Engaged in less serious but continuing misconduct including, but not limited to, the use of

profane, obscene, or abusive language or other acts that are detrimental to the

educational function of the school. Any expulsion recommendation based on such

misconduct shall include a detailed report by the principal on the corrective measure taken

prior to this recommendation of expulsion.

     6. Suspension can also occur for excessive tardiness.

Anti-Bullying Program

Snapper Creek Elementary has a policy against student bullying. Bullying includes all the behaviors

associated with physical, social and verbal abuse. All behaviors that causes suffering and anguish to others. It is documented that bullying has long-term negative effects and it is not in the best interest of the bully, target, bystanders and society. Snapper Creek Elementary has an Anti-Bullying Campaign and program of intervention that teaches children how to sop inappropriate bullying behaviors. It teaches children acceptable social, communication, assertiveness and problem-solving skills. Every student is required to follow the rules and treat others with kindness and respect. No one has the right to cause psychological distress to a student or staff member. These rules will be emphasized and enforced during the school year. The students who do not stop all forms of hurtful bullying behaviors will be subject to consequences set forth by the student Code of Conduct and school discipline police. Bullying is a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. Parents will be notified of their child's chronic bullying behaviors and will be required to participate in a plan to stop the bullying.
